Personal Assistant Services(PAS)/Personal Care Services(PCS)

Personal Care Services is a Medicaid benefit that helps clients with everyday tasks. These tasks are called activities of daily living and instrumental activities of daily living.

A Medicaid benefit called PCS offers assistance to eligible clients who require assistance with activities of daily living (IADLs) such as bathing, eating, going to the toilet, dressing, walking, and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs) such as laundry, light housework, fixing meals, because of a physical, cognitive or behavioral limitation related to their disability, physical or mental illness, or chronic condition.

Personal care services, also referred to as provider services, are non-skilled services that include aiding with activities of daily living (ADLs) like dressing, eating, brushing one’s teeth, bathing, and reminding oneself to take medication.

They also include aiding with instrumental ADLs like grocery shopping, housekeeping, laundry, and meal preparation, as well as helping with transportation to and from medical appointments.
